OPLIN's Mask service, which uses a multi-armed approach to providing patron privacy when someone uses electronic resources, has an orange octopus as its mascot. We have purchased two of these in stuffed form, for our very cool booth at the OLC Convention in Toledo. ONE of them will be given away to the winner of this contest to name the pair! Here are the rules:
- Only staff or trustees of Ohio public libraries are eligible to win.
- Official entries must be submitted via the official form, below. Social media and listserv posts, while encouraged, are not official entries. In the event of two entries of the same names, the first entry will be given precedence.
- You must provide names for BOTH of the octopuses. Not only will OPLIN judge the appeal of the names, we will also be looking for compatibility of the two names (i.e., do they go together? Like "Salt and Pepper.").
- Names in the realm of "Boaty McBoatface" will not be considered. It was funny the first time. Don’t do it.
- The winner will be determined entirely by the OPLIN staff. It's part of our plan to take over the world...er, somebody has to judge.
- Entries must be received no later than September 16, 2023.
- The winner will be announced by September 23rd, 2022. OPLIN will contact the winner directly, as well announce the winner via OPLIN listservs and social media channels.
- Your submitted entry constitutes agreement to these rules.
