Defriend OPLIN on Facebook. No, really. We mean it.
You probably don't hear that too often, but we're aiming for a total of zero friends on Facebook.
Why?

This rather lengthy screed is about our recent experiences working on a mobile app for the OPLIN Find-A-Library service (http://oplin.org/fal). In it we share some lessons learned, some information for folks with mobile devices, and some observations for all libraries.
The winter (January) edition of the OPLIN Circuit is now available online - check out the latest issue!
Once again, it is time for every Ohio public library system to complete E-Rate forms for OPLIN, specifically a Letter of Agency (LOA) and a Form 479.
All libraries are required to submit these forms to OPLIN annually, regardless of whether or not the library itself participates in the E-Rate program.
Very soon now, OLC, the State Library, and OPLIN will be actively working to protect library funding in our next state budget. In fact, OLC is already in the process of sending mailings to election winners to give them some basic information about public libraries in Ohio.
The fall (October) edition of the OPLIN Circuit is now available online - check out the latest issue!
The Ohio Public Library Information Network's (OPLIN) 2010 Stakeholders meeting will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 am on Friday, September 10 at the Ohio Expo Center's Lausche Building as part of the Ohio Library Council Expo. This is our annual report to Ohio public libraries (our "stakeholders") where we review what has happened over the past year and take a peek at the future of the network. Everyone is welcome to attend. Afterward, please stop by booth 717 at the Expo and chat with us!
OPLIN offers a free service that allows libraries to send notification messages directly to patrons' cellphones via standard Short Message Service (SMS) "text messages" instead of sending messages to their email accounts.
NOTE this service is intended only for patron alerts which they've opted in for. Blasts of marketing messages are governed by a different set of laws due to SPAM, which is outside the scope of this service.
Actually, this is about the "not" OPLIN Connectivity Survey.
Remember that we now collect data about Ohio public libraries continuously through http://oplin.org/datacenter and ask that you make changes there whenever things change in your library. This replaces the annual Connectivity Survey.
The Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN) is seeking nominations for its Board of Trustees. The OPLIN Board consists of eleven members appointed by the State Library Board (ORC 3375.65). These members are library directors, staff, and past or present trustees of public libraries.
The OPLIN Board has one vacancy to complete an unfinished term ending June 30, 2011, with the option to be reappointed for two additional three-year terms.
