Upcoming Website Kit Hiatus
Many of you will remember that OPLIN put all non-critical work on Dynamic Website Kits on hold last November, while we did major upgrades to all of the older sites running on the older Drupal 5.x platform.

The 2011 OPLIN Stakeholders Meeting will be held this year at the OLC Convention and Expo in Toledo, at 3:00pm on Wednesday, October 26. This is our annual report to Ohio public libraries (our "stakeholders"). OPLIN staff will review what has happened over the past year and take a peek at the future of the OPLIN network. This year's Stakeholders Meeting will report on the biggest changes to the network since it was first established, and will also report on possible new OPLIN services. Everyone is welcome to attend.
We have completed uploading the data that the State Library collected from libraries last winter into the OPLIN Data Center. Any data submitted to the State Library after May 18 was not included in the update.
Last year, the Public Library Data Center replaced the annual OPLIN Connectivity Survey for gathering library data, and so a brief explanation of the OPLIN Data Center is probably in order. OPLIN no longer asks libraries to fill out a "Connectivity Survey" each year, and instead, we get a copy of some of the data that you submit in response to the State Library's required survey. However, that survey does not include data about your branch connectivity and some other items, so we ask that each director (or deputy) login to http://www.oplin.org/datacenter/ and keep that information up to date. (Tip: if you record changes as they happen in the Data Center, you can use it as a reference when you fill out the State Library survey.)
The OPLIN Board is pleased to welcome two new members:
Both new members will take their seats at the August 12 OPLIN Board meeting.

Tomorrow, OPLIN will be changing to a new web-based mail application called Zimbra. We have set a release date of June 1 for migrating to Zimbra, which means that today, May 31, will be the last day to see the old webmail (SquirrelMail) interface. This change will only affect those users who are currently using webmail (http://mail.oplin.org) to login through their Web browsers, not those using separate email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.
The Ohio Public Library Information Network (OPLIN) is seeking nominations for its Board of Trustees. The OPLIN Board consists of eleven members appointed by the State Library Board (ORC 3375.65). These members are library directors, staff, and past or present trustees of public libraries.
The OPLIN Board has two (2) vacancies for a three-year term starting July 1, 2011 and ending June 30, 2014, with the option to be reappointed for an additional three-year term.
The spring (April) edition of the OPLIN Circuit is now available online - check out the latest issue!
The Ohio Public Library Information Network purchases services for use by each Ohio public library system, falling primarily into three categories: an online database of general-interest periodicals; library connections to the Internet; and online Ohio newspapers and archives. Such collaborative purchasing has demonstrable financial benefits. The attached PDF file provides a statewide summary of those benefits, as well as data for individual library systems.
You probably don't hear that too often, but we're aiming for a total of zero friends on Facebook.
